Card Hunters is built by a small team in Tampa, for hunters. We collect only what's needed to make the app work — and we tell you exactly what that is, in plain language.
What we collect
When you use Card Hunters, we collect the following:
Account information
Email address — used only for sign-in (we send magic links; we never email marketing).
Username and home area — chosen by you during onboarding. Visible to other hunters.
Activity you create
Stock reports — the store, status (stocked / low / out), optional photos, and optional notes you submit.
Confirmations — your votes confirming or denying other hunters' reports.
Line check-ins — when you tap "I'm here," we record the store and your approximate GPS coordinates at that moment to verify proximity. We do not track your location at any other time.
Line estimates — when you report a rough line size at a store.
Device and technical information
Push notification token — if you enable push notifications, we store an anonymous device token to send you alerts.
Approximate location — used in-app to sort stores by distance, calculate "Likely Next" recommendations, and verify line check-ins. We do not store ongoing location history.
How we use it
To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
To display reports, confirmations, and line activity to other hunters in the network.
To rank "Likely Next" recommendations and stock status views.
To send push notifications about restocks near you (only if enabled).
To award points and badges for your contributions.
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
What other hunters can see
If you have a public profile (the default — you can turn this off in Settings), other authenticated hunters can see:
Your username and home area
Your points, badges, streak, and leaderboard rank
Reports you've submitted (including photos and notes)
Confirmations you've cast (in vote totals)
Line check-ins and estimates while they're active
Other hunters never see your email address, your precise home location, or your push notification token.
Where your data lives
Card Hunters uses Supabase (a hosted Postgres service) for our database and authentication, and Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification Service for push delivery. Photos you upload are stored in Supabase Storage. We use Mapbox for map tiles.
All connections to our backend use TLS encryption. Your authentication tokens are stored on your device using the platform's secure storage.
How long we keep it
Reports, confirmations, photos: kept indefinitely — they're the historical intel that makes the network useful. You can request deletion of specific reports by emailing us.
Line check-ins: auto-expire after 3 hours; deleted from active views.
Line estimates: auto-expire after 30 minutes from public view; full record retained for analytics.
Account deletion: on request, we permanently delete your profile, reports, confirmations, check-ins, and uploaded photos within 30 days.
Your rights and controls
Sign out any time in Settings.
Make your profile private — toggle in Settings → Account.
Disable push notifications — toggle in Settings → Notifications.
Restrict location access — via iOS Settings → Card Hunters → Location. The app will still work; some features (check-ins, distance sorting) will be limited.
Delete your account and data — email us at hello@cardhunters.app from your account email.
Children
Card Hunters is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll remove the account.
Photos and content moderation
Photos you upload may be visible to other hunters and to our team. By submitting a photo, you confirm it's relevant to a stock report and contains no personally identifiable information about other people. We may remove photos that violate our Terms of Service.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we'll notify users via the app and update the effective date at the top of this page.
